Nature Kids Solano: Ladybug Hike, Redwood Regional Park

Ladybug Hike, Redwood Regional Park

Website: East Bay Parks

Location: Redwood Regional Park, Oakland, Canyon Meadow Staging Area

About:  We had amazing Nature Kids family outing last weekend at Redwood Regional Park for a docent led Lovely Ladybugs hike, in Oakland. It was a huge group -- probably 100 -150 attendees from all over the Bay Area. Not sure if the docents were ready for such a big crowd! It is a short window of opportunity to view the ladybug hibernation season. Ladybug hibernation is from Nov/Dec to mid-Feb. It’s a bit of a walk to see them, about 1.5 miles or so, but mostly flat and easy — it’s also jogging stroller friendly. A nice play structure area is located near the start of the hike, as well as a creative nature art walking path, and several restrooms along the way. Parking gets full quick. Highly recommend heading early to grab parking. Hope you get to go. It was fantastic!
